Description:
Nexpro 20 contains Esomeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) prescribed to manage conditions related to excessive stomach acid, including GERD (acid reflux), peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. It works by reducing stomach acid production to relieve symptoms and support healing

⚙️ How It Works

Esomeprazole inhibits the stomach’s proton pump enzyme (H⁺/K⁺ ATPase), effectively lowering acid levels to promote healing of ulcerated or inflamed tissue

✅ Benefits & Indications

• Helps relieve heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion

• Supports healing of peptic ulcers and erosive esophagitis

• Used with antibiotics for H. pylori eradication

• Helps prevent ulcers in patients on chronic NSAID therapy

• May be used in Zollinger–Ellison syndrome under medical supervision 

🕒 Dosage & Administration

• Take 1 tablet daily, preferably on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal

• Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew

• Continue use even if symptoms improve, unless your physician advises otherwise 

⚠️ Possible Side Effects

Common effects may include:

• Headache, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain

• Constipation or diarrhea, flatulence

• Less frequently: dizziness, dry mouth, rash
  Long-term use may be associated with low magnesium levels, reduced vitamin B12 absorption, increased bone fracture risk, and rare intestinal infections 

⚠️ Precautions & Interactions

• Use with caution in pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver disease, osteoporosis, or magnesium deficiency 

• Should be taken 2 hours apart from antacids

• May interact with medications like clopidogrel, warfarin, methotrexate, and certain antifungals or antivirals

• May cause dizziness or blurred vision; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected
